BP (Bishweshwar Prasad) Koirala, the first democratically elected Prime Minister of Nepal is ideologue of Nepal’s largest political party – Nepali Congress. One of the greatest political personality of Nepal, Koirala was a strong advocate of democratic socialism. Koirala was also a solid pillars of Non Aligned Movement (NAM). The B.P Koirala School of Public Policy, established in the year 2016, aims at promoting diplomatic interest of Nepal in line with the values promoted by Koirala, i.e. democratic socialism and the core essence of NAM and the five principles of Panchaseel. The School comprises of politicians, diplomats, scholars and researchers among others, who have come together with a firm belief that Nepal needs to take a leap in its foreign policy practice and dynamically maintain relationship with two giant economies – China and India – and the rest of the world. The School will be working on the front of diplomacy and provide inputs to the government of Nepal on the relevant subject matters. Nepal’s internal politics has remained fragile and the transition has continued ever since the end of Maoist insurgency. The school aims at conducting studies, research and dialogue with several stakeholders, including those from different political parties for garnering a national consensus in the field of international affairs.
